Direction: Setting your sights on things in life that
are worthwhile and establishing a plan to continuously work toward
their accomplishment.
Balance: Keeping the proper perspective about every facet of life.
Belief: Believing in yourself and what you can accomplish.
2. The Success Plan
Decide on your goals: Decide on goals you want to
achieve and write them down.
Formulate a plan: Formulate 4 plan on achieving goals and set a date
for their accomplishment.
Develop a desire: Desire can motivate you and others into action.
Be persistent: Never give up!
3. Consider the following questions when formulating
your goals.
1. How much effort are you willing to give?
2. How much time will you allow to reach your goal?
3. Are you willing to wait several years (months, weeks) to realize
your dreams?
4. Can the goal be achieved by everyone in the band?
5. Does the goal coincide with the values in which you believe, or
will the goal create internal conflicts?
6. Will the band members, parents, school administrators support your
goal?
7. Is the goal set high enough to motivate you and the band members
for an extended period of time? A goal too easily achieved may lead
to less then maximum effort.
8. Is the goal or expectation level set to high? If the goal is set
to high it may lead to doubt, fear and premature feelings of failure.

A. Phases of success
Anticipation: Imagining the outcome.
Separation and Development: Letting go to allow the
band to develop maturity and consistency.
Presentation and Illumination: Performing and experiencing
the feeling of enlightenment.
Reflection: Looking back on the results of the event.
Accepting results and rewards with relief and satisfaction.
B. Phases of Creative Development
Preparation: Gathering Ideas.
Development: Creating the plan and letting ideas
unfold.
Immersion and Instruction: Teaching the concepts
and taking creative risks to achieve originality.
Revision: Editing and rewriting the concepts. A creative
pause to replenish energy and desire.
