Smudge



     Smudging is a blending technique using a tissue, paper towel or even cotton puffs to move the graphite around in a drawing. I should mention at this point that it is not a good idea to use your fingers to do this method. You could transfer the graphite powder to your food or even breath it in if you get an itchy nose.

     Start with a drawing with the approximate values as those above. Then with the process of blending with a tissue or a piece of cotton and lifting with your kneaded erasure keep working until you have an approximation of the drawing to the right.
