It's easy to change the color of the eyes from, say, green to
blue. Although there are other ways of doing this, I've discovered
a simple, yet effective method using the Red Eye Brush tool in Photoshop
Elements. The Red Eye Brush tool is great for getting rid of red;
however, the Red
Eye Brush tool is really a general color replacement tool in disguise,
and it is great for changing the color of just about anything. Take
a look at this example.
This is what I did to change the color of the eyes:
- Select the Red Eye Brush tool from the toolbar.
- Chose a brush size from the pop-up palette in the Options bar.
I choose a Soft Round 65 pixels brush, but the brush you choose
will depend on the specifics of your particular image.
- Specify a target color (the color I wanted to replace) by choosing
First Click from the Sampling pop-up menu in the options bar.
- Specify a replacement color by clicking the Replacement color
swatch and picking a light blue from the Color Picker. You can
pick any color you want.
- Set the Tolerance in the options bar to 30 percent. A higher
percentage would have replaced adjacent pixels with a broader
range of color values. A lower percentage would have replaced
only a few adjacent pixels with similar color values.
- Click and dragged over the pupils. The parts of the eye that
matched the target color were colorized with the light blue. See
an example.
