I'm Blank - where can I get an idea?
1. Start with Yourself ( Since a story is driven by emotion what do you know better than yourself? What do you like or not like? What's your secret or your best or worst day? You get the drift. )
2. Ask Why ( Look at something and ask why? )
3. Go into the World and Watch ( The world is wild and full of conflict - observe it, the big and the small. )
4. Create some Innocent Trouble ( If they ask "paper or plastic" say both and watch. )
5. Read the Newspaper ( Man bites dog is news and a story. )
6. Look at Art ( What do you like or not? )
7. Adapt Another Story ( With out Cinderella where would Pretty Woman be? )
8. Parody a current event or story ( Think of Weird Al Yackovich )
9. Create a Competition, play with Status ( Prince and Pauper anyone? )
10. Combine Unlike Things ( Try it - these are what ifs. Think of Twins, Arnold and Danny brothers! )
